Position Overview:
This position at Women’s College Research Institute, Women’s College Hospital, will provide a post-doctoral fellow with the opportunity to contribute to the under-researched, under-reported and frequently misunderstood issue that is sex trafficking. The position will be supervised by Drs. Janice Du Mont and Robin Mason, co-founders and current directors of the novel program of research, Addressing Sex Trafficking through Education and Research (ASTER). Sex trafficking is a growing concern in Canada–a billion-dollar industry that involves recruiting, harbouring, holding or transporting victims, usually girls or women, to exploit them for sexual purposes.

This fellowship opportunity provides funding for one year with possible renewal. Candidates are expected to:
- Lead and contribute as a team member to the development, design, and conduct of research and grant applications;
- Participate in the preparation of research reports, articles for publication, protocols, letters of intent, grant proposals, and presentations related to sex trafficking of girls and women;
- Disseminate research using traditional methods (publications, presentations) as well as exploring other more novel forums of communications to translate research and make science accessible to the public and other diverse audiences (videos, podcasts, social media campaigns);
- Attend and contribute to regular team meetings; and
- Aid in coordinating day-to-day activities of any staff engaged in the research.
- PhD or other doctoral degree required, preferably in the social sciences, public health, or health services research
- Familiarity with gender-based violence, sex trafficking, or sexual exploitation an asset
- Commitment to health equity and social justice
- Experience designing studies
- Experience analyzing large datasets and qualitative data
- A record of peer-reviewed publications
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
- Excellent computer skills and software expertise
- Ability to work independently and in a team
